Christmas play














We did a great job preforming our Christmas Cookie play. We practiced for several weeks and were able to memorize our lines perfectly. We even made cookies for our audience!

We had so much fun in the month of December and we learned a lot too. We studied children around the word. We concentrated on the following six countries: Africa, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden, and the United States. We learned how these countries celebrate Christmas. We made lanterns for Japan, a wreath of lights for Sweden, and a manger scene for Italy.
We learned that the pods for chocolate grow in Africa...We got to taste it!!!

Conner Prairie













We had a great time at Conner Prairie. We participated in a program entitled, Prairie Pioneers. The children experienced what life was like in the past. We learned what kind of chores pioneer children had to do everyday. We even got to play with pioneer toys!

We have been learning about leaves and apples! Fall is such a fun time in first grade. We had center time with Mrs. Stites' class. We played games, painted, and and even made applesauce!

Special Student


Our special student of the week was born on February 8th. She lives in a brick house with a play set in the yard. She lives with her mom, dad, and little sister. She has a cat named Garfield. Her favorite color is lime green because it is her best friends favorite color. She like learning science in school because she is interested in plants. Her favorite TV show is I-Carly. She enjoys reading the American Girl doll books. She likes to eat chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and spaghetti. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up because she wants to help children learn. She wants to visit L.A. some day! She is special because she has a lot of friends and family that love her.

Our special person this week lives in an old farm house. She lives with her mom, sister, brother, and uncle. She has a dog named Emma. Her favorite color is purple because it is her sister's favorite color. Her favorite subject is art because she likes to paint and express herself. She likes to watch Hannah Montana on TV. She likes to read the book Green Eggs and Ham. Her favorite foods are spaghetti and chicken nuggets with ketchup. She likes to go to her friends house and play Barbies. She feels happy When she's around her friends and family. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up. She wants to help children learn. She is a very caring girl.

Saint Patrick's Day


We had a great Saint Patrick's day! We read books and made special leprechaun hats. When we came to school on the 17th, the leprechaun had made a big mess in our room. He left us a message also. We followed his trail in our room that led to an open window. At the end of the day, we found his pot of gold!

Our special person of the week lives in a tan and burgundy house. He has two sisters and one brother. He has two dogs named Jasper and Jade. His favorite color is blue because it is the Colt's color. His favorite subject in school is history because he likes learning about the past. He likes to watch Sponge Bob Square Pants on TV. His favorite book is Flying Machines. He likes to eat crackers. He likes to play sports and spend time with his dad. When he grows up he wants to be a soldier and fight for our country. Someday he wants to go to Florida. He is special because his mom and dad love him very much.

Swimming













We have had a great time swimming at the high school this week. Mrs. Britten has taught us a lot of swimming skills. We even had free time to play in the water. Some of us went off the diving board! Miss Nantroup and Mrs. Dye helped us learn to swim too!

Our special person lives in a red house. Her favorite color is red because it is pretty. She likes art class in school. Her grandma has a cat that is 20 years old. She likes watching the Wizards of Waverly Place. Her favorite book is Truly Scary Stories for Fearless Kids. She likes eating ice cream and going on long bike rides with her grandma. She feels happy when she goes to her grandma's house. She wants to be an art teacher when she grows up. The best thing about her is that she is a really good artist.

Dr. Seuss













This week we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday! We did several activities with rhyming words, and writing. We made a hat like the the one in Dr. Seuss' story. We played Green Eggs and Ham tic-tac-toe, graphed Dr. Seuss books, played a Cat in the Hat board game, and read many Dr. Seuss books.

When he grows up, he wants to be a football player because they have fun and make a lot of money.

Her favorite subject is math because she likes it. She likes to watch Tom and Jerry. She likes Scooby Doo books. Her favorite thing to eat is macaroni. She likes playing with her sister. When she grows up she wants to be a cop. She thinks it would be a fun job. She would like to visit Georgia. She feels special because her family loves her.

Valentine's Day










We had so much fun during our Valentine party. We opened our cards and ate yummy treats. We guessed how many candy hearts were in the container. A special girl in our guessed the closest, so she got to take the whole container of hearts home. We played pass the cup. We had to pass the cup using straws. It was very hard to do! We played musical heart too.
